911 Lone Star 5x07, 'Kiddos,' Recap/Review

TK

Having his 30th birthday on shift, TK is surprised at the station by Carlos, and the crew assembled with a birthday cake for him, with a toy red McLaren on top of it.

TK is even further surprised when a real McLaren is driven into the station and out steps his stepdad, Enzo, who is in town before TK's birthday party. Enzo gets Jonah, TK's half-brother, out of the car and then gifts the car to TK. Later, knowing his dad is not Enzo's biggest fan, TK tells his father he hopes he plays nice with Enzo while he's in town, prompting Owen to decide to host Enzo, TK and Carlos over for dinner at his place.

The dinner starts out well, until Owen and Enzo get into an argument about who won their arm wrestling match a couple years ago, leading them to have one in Owen's kitchen. The arm wrestling match goes awry when Owen breaks Enzo's arm, sending him to the hospital. Angry at his dad for causing injury to Enzo, he blows up at his dad, tells him Enzo was the reason he became a firefighter, and tells his dad to make peace with Enzo or he can't come to his birthday party.

Later, during TK's birthday party, which Owen shows up to and is amicable with Enzo, TK is forced into karaoke by his husband, who he's eventually joined by Enzo and Owen in. The ending of the karaoke is interrupted when the FBI storm TK and Carlos' loft, looking for Enzo. Enzo is arrested and taken away on charges for fraud, conspiracy, and tax evasion.

Hurt by seeing the father figure he has looked up to not being the type of person he thought he was, TK is told by Owen that Enzo is both. Raising TK made Enzo good, but at the same time, Owen hopes Enzo faces the consequences of his actions.

Tommy

Tommy goes through a simple out-patient surgery procedure, but due to over-exerting herself at work, at TK's party, and for her daughters, Tommy develops a blood clot and collapses. When she realizes she has to take a step back from the 126, she appoints Nancy as acting paramedic captain.

126 Rescue

The 126 come to the rescue of Will, who after flying a kite with his girlfriend's daughter, goes to rescue the kite from a tree. After being helped down from the tree, Tommy, TK and Nancy have to perform a surgery on Will in the field to relieve the abdominal compartment syndrome he has.

Wyatt

The episode opened with a 911 call of a suicidal woman preparing to jump off a highway overpass. Wyatt answers the 911 call, and talks the woman down by telling her of his own time where he felt like doing the same exact thing.

Thoughts

I loved seeing TK's birthday party. When I heard we were gonna see his party, I thought it was going to be a small gathering of family and friends, but the party was a whole PARTY and it was amazing to see. I loved seeing the karaoke scene betweem TK, Enzo and Owen, but my heart broke for TK when Enzo got arrested, and the image he had of Enzo, kind of got ruined.

I loved the moment Owen realized he should make peace with Enzo for TK's sake. The moment at the call where Will fell in the tree, seeing Rory, Will's soon-to-be-stepdaughter have so much love for Will, made Owen realize that Enzo was meant alot to TK during the majority of his childhood.

I also loved the moment when Wyatt was talking the woman down from committing suicide. He's such a compassionate person, and he's really thriving as a 911 dispatcher.

I also love that Ronen Rubinstein developed a bond with Vincent, the kid that plays Jonah, and by the end of filming the episodes Jonah was in, he didn't want to leave Ronen's side.

Next Episode

Episode eight, 'The Quiet Ones,' airs on November 18.

5x08 synopsis: A gang killing leads Carlos to new information on his father's murder. TK contemplates a major life decision as Owen is determined to get Austin's first responders' health care coverages increased.
