Back in January, Titanic actor Scott Anderson started going viral on social media after his daughter Mckenzie posted a comedic TikTok video about him and the iceberg. Her video currently has 27.7 million views on the app.
“Shock and horror. And then I laughed. I think she experienced more shock and horror than I did, actually. I think it tapped out at 27 million views out of a little joke, and she was completely freaked out about that,” Anderson said about his reaction to the viral video.
The Scottish actor has been in the film industry for over a decade, but prior to being an actor, he worked as a hairdresser and a DJ.
“Hairdressing was a very interesting career choice that I never thought I’d be doing, but it actually helped propel my interest in theatre and film.” Anderson explained.
“It allowed me to travel throughout Britain and do stage seminars where you’re performing haircuts in front of large audiences, and the thrill of a live audience clicked something in me so that I wanted to pursue acting,” he added.
As an actor, Anderson is best known for his roles in Titanic, Sons of Anarchy and The Informer.

When his interests in becoming an actor started becoming more real, Anderson moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue more opportunities.
“I started enrolling in different acting classes and different theatre groups. I formed a theatre company at one point called The Bourbon Group and did some small theatrical performances,” he said.
As someone who lives in the moment and looks forward to the next project coming up, Anderson said he doesn’t really have a favourite movie he has acted in.
“I did have fun working on Sons of Anarchy. I had a lot of fun doing that. It was a nice crew, and it was a great cast. I also had fun working on Pirates of the Caribbean because it allowed me to go to Australia for six months,” Anderson reminisced.
“Titanic was fun. It was beyond fun, actually. It’s one of those things that will always live with me.”
On the other hand, Anderson does have a favourite place he’s traveled for the filming of a movie.
“Australia. It was a great experience. It’s very similar to California in certain ways, but it’s obviously completely different. So it was nice to see a part of the world I’ve never been to,” he said.
“I got the chance to travel around and see other parts of Australia other than set and the hotel. It’s a very beautiful country. And dangerous. Everything kills you there. From jellyfish, to spiders, to snakes,” he added
One of Anderson’s favourite acting experiences has been when he acted in A Shot at Glory, because it allowed him to head back to home.
“I was playing a part of a soccer captain on a small team that finally get to the cup finals. And it allowed me to go back to Scotland for a month to train with professional teams and hang out with professional soccer players,” he said.
As an actor, Anderson has been on dozens of movie sets, but nothing comes close to how magical the set of Titanic was.
“I remember the first day driving down to the set in Mexico, and you are just completely blown away with this three-quarter-scale-size ship that is in full detail of the original Titanic. It’s on hydraulics and it’s in the world’s biggest swimming pool, basically, and it was just awesome,” Anderson recalled.
“Usually, you’re on a movie set indoors, but this one was outdoors. So, when it was sunny, it was real sun, when it was raining, it was real rain, and when it was windy, it was really windy, so you really got the sense that you were on a ship,” he added.
In Titanic, Anderson portrayed lookout Frederick Fleet. But not just any lookout. Fleet was the lookout that first saw the iceberg when the ship was approaching it.
“You have this huge three-quarter-scale boat. You have every detail, from the china and silverware to the uniforms and props. Everything is absolutely detailed down to the last element,” Anderson explained.
“And the night we were shooting the infamous iceberg scene, I am 300 feet up in the air above the ship. So, the ship is already 400 feet, and then I’m another 300 feet in the crow’s nest and I’m there with another actor. And I’m feeling all confident going ‘okay, where’s this huge iceberg,’ and I’m joking around when all of a sudden, a crane comes around and there’s a camera in a big crane basket, and I’m waiting any minute for this huge iceberg to be flown in from somewhere so I have something to react to, and I jokingly ask the director, James Cameron, ‘so, where’s the iceberg?’ and he goes, ‘it’s in your head.”
“We actually had to cut out this little Styrofoam board in the shape of an iceberg and that was for my eyeline. So, they had this over $200,000,000 budget movie and the physical iceberg used in that movie for my performance is currently in my bedroom signed by the entire cast.”
As for the future, there were a few projects Anderson was going to do before COVID-19 hit which had to be postponed.
As a result, Anderson is also excited to be launching a podcast he has been working on about a pair of serial killers.
