Over the years since actor Ronen Rubinstein has come out as bisexual, he has appeared on five magazine covers for Pride related stuff.
Rubinstein first came out in April of 2021 and to go along with his announcement, he got featured in People Magazine, alongside his 911 Lone Star co-star, Rafael Silva, and his stylist-turned-best friend, Chaise Dennis.
Since he first came out, Rubinstein's message has been to be a voice for people fighting to live their true selves, and throughout his time being out, his message has never wavered.
"There are still so many little Ronens out there who are terrified," Rubinstein was quoted saying in the People interview. "I'm going to keep fighting for them until they don't have to be afraid anymore."
In June 2022, Rubinstein got featured for a digital Hello Magazine for Pride Month, and in October of 2022, Rubinstein and Silva appeared as one of the Out100 covers for their work as beloved LGBTQ+ couple on 911 Lone Star.
In his Pride feature for Hello Magazine, Rubinstein mentioned a boy in Canada who sees Rubinstein as their real-life TK, (Rubinstein's character from 911 Lone Star), and said he inspired this boy to leave his small Canadian town, for Vancouver, where he'd be more welcomed.
"His mom used to always tell him to 'be extraordinary' and now he has those words, in my handwriting, tattooed on him," Rubinstein was quoted saying in Hello.
The Canadian boy Rubinstein helped inspire is not the only fan Rubinstein has been an inspiration to. In July 2022, Rubinstein and Silva were guests at Paris' Dream It Convention's Dream It Not At Home, a fan convention which saw hundreds of fans flocking to meet the men behind Tarlos in person.
"We met a lot of people saying, 'I've been saving money to come here, I've been working overtime,'" Silva was quoted saying in their Out100 interview.
In May 2023, Rubinstein once again appeared in Hello, this time with Silva, as they graced a digital cover celebrating Tarlos' (TK Strand and Carlos Reyes), marriage on 911 Lone Star.
Echoing his message, Rubinstein along with Silva, both said truth and love is what they hope their legacy of portraying Tarlos comes to for their fans.
This year, as part of a campaign for Pride Month, Rubinstein appeared on a digital magazine cover for Gurus Magazine, one of 30 Queer artists being featured for #30VOICES30DAYS.
In his most recent Gurus Magazine interview, Rubinstein says he has embraced having a platform to share his voice and his journey.
"Sometimes personal moments, sometimes scary moments - I don't hide much," Rubinstein was quoted saying for his Gurus interview.
As someone who came out as bisexual, myself, in part due to Rubinstein and his inspiring qualities, I have seen him as a beacon of light to me. Seeing Rubinstein in an open and safe relationship with his wife, Jessica Parker Kennedy, it gives me the reassurance that whenever I'm in a relationship of my own, my sexuality won't change no matter the fact if I'm dating a man or a woman. Rubinstein doesn't let online trolls get to him in invalidating his sexuality due to being married to a woman, and that gives me courage for my own future, watching him not be bothered. I feel like I'm a stronger person knowing who I am, and knowing it's not weird anymore that I am also attracted to the same sex as well as the opposite.
I came across 911 Lone Star, and in turn, Rubinstein, at a dark time in my life, and while following Rubinstein, the positivity and kindness he always exudes, has also been uplifting and given me more courage to live my life in happiness, despite setbacks life can throw at you. Like Rubinstein's character on Lone Star, I have also had a lot of tough challenges thrown my way, and seeing TK bounce back happily from each setback in his life, makes me see how each setback is only temporary in life, and no matter how many hard challenges get thrown your way, there's always a way to come back.
In my dark days, Rubinstein's words and positivity never fail to put a smile on my face, and give me courage that I can bounce back from anything I endure.
This letter to Rubinstein's younger self has resonated with me since I came out, and I always remind myself "It's okay to feel what you feel," whenever I'm doubting myself.
Among all the covers he has appeared on, Rubinstein has also looked incredibly fashionable as well. In the Hello Pride interview, Rubinstein was dressed in various coloured outfits in theme of pride colours, and looked stunning in each one.
In the June 2023 Hello feature, Rubinstein dazzles in a velvety blue suit as one outfit, a nice Jade suit that brings out his eyes as another outfit, and a colourful Kid Super jacket as another outfit, looking stunning in all three.
In the Gurus feature, Rubinstein knocks all other outfits out of the park, looking ICONIC in all three outfits. The photos that dropped of Rubinstein in Gurus, had my jaw dropping wide open.
With season five of 911 Lone Star set to premiere this fall, and with his portrayal of TK Strand as an inspiring LGBTQ+ character to look up to, I look forward to watching Rubinstein portray a newly married TK, as well as hopefully catch a glimpse of him gracing the cover of future magazines in relation to pride.
